Harper's book “Pack Leader Psychology” won a Ben Franklin award for Psychology. Her work entitled Self-Acceptance Psychology offers a new clinical case formulation model. She has been trained by Kristen Neff, PhD, and Christopher Germer, Ph.D, researchers on mindful self-compassion and is trained in Compassion-Focused Therapy by Dr. Paul Gilbert. Other advanced training includes an externship and core skills training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. She was trained in transcendental meditation in 1978 and has practiced yoga for more than 25 years. Her lived experience in developing self-acceptance and in an abusive relationship guides her clinical work and writing.
